The Prison Services Program provides a link to the community for incarcerated individuals through the provision of direct assistance, information, guidance, advocacy and related support. Emphasis is placed on assisting individuals with release planning and facilitating connections with appropriate resources and supports.

By providing appropriate direction and support individuals are assisted during and following their incarceration thus increasing their likelihood of successful reintegration. Anyone incarcerated at the Calgary Remand Centre and the Southern Alberta Forensic Assessment Centre may access Prison Services by submitting a standard Institutional Request Form and requesting to speak with the Calgary John Howard Society. When individuals are released with appropriate supports and a concrete plan to follow, they are more likely to succeed and this contributes to the overall health and safety of our community.
